Deadman Wonderland Review: A World of Insanity and Bloodshed

Image

Wow, it’s still hard to believe that a manga I’ve kept up with for quite a while is actually concluding.  I think it’s been about…..2 years?  I haven’t been reading Deadman Wonderland from the very beginning, but I did read it chapter by chapter for some time and thoroughly enjoyed it.  After a painful hiatus, I kept up with the series for the next half year until at last, it has concluded.  It’s truly a sad thing when an ongoing manga finishes.  While many ongoing anime have a set runtime, usually something like 12-13 episodes or 24-26 episodes, one can never really be sure about when a manga will end until it’s very close to the conclusion.  Now it seems that I have reached such a conclusion to one of the manga I had kept up with.  It’s truly a sad thing, but Deadman Wonderland had a great run and I truly enjoyed it during the time I read it ongoing. Psycho-Pass Review: Ambiguous Morality and a Twisted Society

Image

Yesterday I finished watching through Psycho-Pass.  Psycho-Pass was an interesting watch that is quite different from most of the series I’ve already seen.  It’s far from perfect, but it was nonetheless very worthwhile and presented some interesting themes and ideas for the viewer to think about. Ao no Exorcist Review: The Life of a Demon Exorcist

Image

Finished watching Ao no Exorcist yesterday, and it was a pretty enjoyable series overall.  I’ve always enjoyed action Shounen series and this is one I hadn’t gotten to for a while, so I enjoyed watching it at last.  One of these days I’ll have to read the manga as well, but for now the anime will suffice, as there is a lot I have to finish this summer. Continue reading

Macross Plus Review: Beyond the Super Dimension Fortress

Image

Well I happened to have a bit of free time so I decided to watch through Macross Plus since I had just finished Macross.  I’ve been pretty impatient about getting back to Katawa Shoujo but luckily Macross Plus was only a 4-episode OVA so I was able to finish it with ease.  Overall I enjoyed it a slight bit more than the original Macross, but it still had problems of its own.  Said problems were very different from the original’s, however. Macross Review: Space Wars and the Power of Culture

Image

After about a week, I have finished watching the original Macross anime.  As a fan of Macross Frontier, I had high hopes for the original series, but ultimately I did not enjoy it nearly as much as Frontier.  While Macross was good in its own right, it was quite far from being a perfect series. Continue reading

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion Review: Psychological Disturbances and Evangelion’s Grand Finale

With the unusual conclusion of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime, I’ve been curious about the End of Evangelion film, as I had heard many times that the movie felt much more like an ending to the series than the last two episodes of the TV anime.  Now that I’ve finally seen the movie, I can certainly say that this is true, although End of Evangelion is a movie that’s hard to be prepared for because of many reasons. Fate/stay night TV Reproduction Review: Fate/stay night in a Nutshell

Image

Happened to have some free time today (and no laptop when I needed it) so I decided to take the chance to watch Fate/stay night TV Reproduction, which is basically a 2-episode recap OVA of the Fate/stay night anime with an hour for each episode.  It was certainly enjoyable, but cramming 24 episodes’ worth of content into 2 hours of runtime means missing a lot. Continue reading
