Katawa Shoujo: Hanako’s Route Review: The Scars of the Past

l

My third route of Katawa Shoujo is complete, which sadly reminds me that I’m getting closer to reaching the end of this adventure.  Two more routes left to go and I hope that they’ll match up to the three I have played.  More importantly though, the latest route I’ve completed is that of Hanako Ikezawa, which was refreshing because she made very few appearances in my previous two routes. Katawa Shoujo: Emi’s Route Review: Shouldering Burdens and Running from Reality

Image

At long last I have finally returned to Katawa Shoujo, and yesterday I managed to complete the Emi Ibarazaki route.  I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as Rin’s route, but it’s still fantastic and appeals in quite a different way. Continue reading

Macross Plus Review: Beyond the Super Dimension Fortress

Image

Well I happened to have a bit of free time so I decided to watch through Macross Plus since I had just finished Macross.  I’ve been pretty impatient about getting back to Katawa Shoujo but luckily Macross Plus was only a 4-episode OVA so I was able to finish it with ease.  Overall I enjoyed it a slight bit more than the original Macross, but it still had problems of its own.  Said problems were very different from the original’s, however. Macross Review: Space Wars and the Power of Culture

Image

After about a week, I have finished watching the original Macross anime.  As a fan of Macross Frontier, I had high hopes for the original series, but ultimately I did not enjoy it nearly as much as Frontier.  While Macross was good in its own right, it was quite far from being a perfect series. Continue reading

Katawa Shoujo: Rin’s Route Review: An Artist’s Dilemma and Self Acceptance

Image

So I just finished my first playthrough of Katawa Shoujo, which I have been looking forward to for a while.  Many people have told me that it’s a fantastic story and I certainly enjoyed my first route.  As it turns out, the first route I ended up with was Rin Tezuka’s. Continue reading

Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion Review: Psychological Disturbances and Evangelion’s Grand Finale

nge-teoe_h1

With the unusual conclusion of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime, I’ve been curious about the End of Evangelion film, as I had heard many times that the movie felt much more like an ending to the series than the last two episodes of the TV anime.  Now that I’ve finally seen the movie, I can certainly say that this is true, although End of Evangelion is a movie that’s hard to be prepared for because of many reasons. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei Review: A “Perfect” World and the Final Choice

Image

After almost half a year since I finished watching the two seasons of the Higurashi anime, I’ve finally decided to watch the sequel OVA, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei.  As an OVA it didn’t have the same development and impact as the TV series did, but it does well enough for Higurashi fans to enjoy regardless.  For anyone who has not seen the Higurashi series, I must mention that Rei is by no means the part of the story to jump into and can only be appreciated (and probably understood) after finishing Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai. Kuroko no Basket: Tip Off Review: Days of the Generation of Miracles

Image

Just finished Kuroko no Basket: Tip Off, which is a special episode for the Kuroko no Basket anime.  Speaking of which, I would highly recommend it to those who have yet to see it.  I’m personally not much of a sports fan, but Kuroko no Basket really caught me because of its fast-paced, over-the-top game style and the basketball games were always really exciting in this series.  The characters are also quite likeable as well and it’s entertaining to see how they compete with one another. Narcissu Side 2nd Review: Setsumi’s Past and the Story of Himeko

I finished Narcissu Side 2nd a few days ago, though I was too busy to post about it until just now.  Ultimately I enjoyed NS2 even more than the original Narcissu for a number of reasons. Continue reading

Narcissu Review: Terminal Illness and Choosing One’s Path

Image

So at last I’ve gotten the chance to get to some more visual novels, and Narcissu was the first one of those I decided to play.  I heard it was a short but enjoyable one, and I suppose that it was far from amazing but still worth it overall. Continue reading
